Radeon RX Vega 56 Stock Comes, And Goes

So AMD’s Radeon RX Vega 56 came available for sale at $399 today. It was gone in a flash. At that price point if you can find a way to watercool it then you would be in good shape. Again was hoping to get one but no dice. Newegg and Amazon and Best Buy are all out of stock. I found one jerk on Ebay selling it for double. Frys doesn’t even appear to be in the game.

As I write this, (10/22), there is a Gigabyte-branded reference model Vega 56 at Newegg for $470 with a $20 rebate. Of course that would still leave it with a $50 USD mark-up over AMD’s suggested retail price, but that is as good as I’ve personally seen, price-wise. Not to mention that it’s in stock.

Rumor-mill has the non-reference cards arriving before month’s end, so perhaps that might be influencing things. Anyone who already has the PSU to run a 290X/390X should be good-to-go, and the parlor trick of flashing these with a Vega 64 BIOS image has apparently captured certain hearts and minds.
